The Ketogenic, Or Keto, diet trend has been sweeping the nation for the past year and a half. But, what exactly is this diet and why is it so popular today?

The Keto diet involves reducing your carb intake drastically while replacing it with fat. The reduction is carbs forces your body to become more efficient at burning fat for energy. This metabolic state is called Ketosis. This diet can also cause a reduction in blood sugar and insulin levels. The following are other benefits reported to one’s health by doing the Keto diet.

  • Has shown signs that it can reduce seizures in epileptic children.
